Healing Hospital designation was established as a recognition conferred by the Baptist Healing Trust (Healing Trust) starting in 2005. The concept is grounded in work done at Nashville's Baptist Hospital (now St. Thomas Midtown) when during 1998-2002 when Mr. Chapman was President & CEO. Mr. Chapman announced the launching of the New Healing Hospital at Baptist in 2001. The healing hospital work and related materials were transferred from the Healing Trust to the Erie Chapman Foundation after Mr. Chapman retired from the Trust in 2010. Since then, a number of hospitals have been named as Healing under the foundation's new Healing Hospital Certification(sm) process*. Baptist Hospital (St. Thomas Midtown) Nashville, Tennessee (Founding Healing Hospital) Parrish Medical Center, Titusville, Florida Mercy Gilbert Hospital, Gilbert (Phoenix) Arizona Saint Vincent Hospital, Billings, Montana Bingham Memorial Hospital, Blackfoot, Idaho Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio St. Mary Medical Center, Apple Valley California
Other hospitals described as healing by the foundation include: The Mayo Clinic (Rochester Campuses) The Cleveland Clinic (which adopted the Radical Loving Care & Servants Heart criteria under their names) Baylor, Scott & White (selected hospitals) Beth Israel, Boston
*Since designations are for one year at a time, not all hospitals are currently certified.
